LEGOLAND is building a new amusement park in Winter Haven, Florida, named LEGOLAND Florida, and it will open October 2011. The new park will be built on the old Cypress Garden amusement park. It will be home to 50 rides, shows, and attractions. Some rides will be moved to Florida from other LEGOLAND sites around the world.
The new LEGOLAND will be similar to the park in California but not Chicago. LEGOLAND California is a full amusement park, while LEGOLAND Chicago is a “Discover Center” which is more like an exhibit.
Winter Haven, the new site for LEGOLAND Florida, is approximately 45 minutes southwest of Disney World. This will put it in the Central Florida amusement belt with Universal Studios Orlando, Sea World, and Busch Gardens. Tickets are expected to be around $65 per person, but discount coupons may be available online for less.
